# Get a role

Fetch one role in the curated v1 shape. Scope: roles:read.

Fetches a single role (job). **Scope:** `roles:read`. A role the key cannot see returns `404` (no existence leak).

## Response

`200 OK` — a single role object (same shape as the items in [List roles](/docs/api/pipeline/roles-list/)).

## Status codes

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `200` | Success. |
| `401` | No valid API key. |
| `403` | `insufficient_scope` — the key lacks `roles:read`. |
| `404` | Not found, or not visible to the key. |
| `429` | Rate limit exceeded. |
